Sony has just announced at GDC 2010 that their upcoming PS3 Motion Controller, now revealed as ‘Playstation Move’, will cost $100 for the starter kit and will be available this fall.

After announcing the price for the Playstation Move, Sony went on to show us some of the types of games that will be available for device, such as a mini game called Move Party, a fighting game called Motion Fighters, a table tennis game and also Little Big Planet using the PS3 Move.

What do you think about the price though? $100 is quite reasonable actually, so no complaints on that part. We’ll update you with much more details soon.

Let us know your intial reaction to the price point.

[UPDATE]: It has also been confirmed that the $100 price point will include the Playstation Eye accessory, Playstation Move controller and a game also. Not bad at all.

GDC 2010: SOCOM 4 will make ‘full use’ of Playstation Move

Well heres some great news direct out of Sony’s press conference at GDC 2010. The company has just shown off the recently announced SOCOM 4, being played entirely with motion controls.

As most of you will be aware, Zipper Interactive will be handling the game, so what better way for one of their team to demonstrate how Playstation Move will interact with the game.

If you choose to play SOCOM 4 using motion controls, you will be required to use the Playstation Move, along with a secondary ’sub controller’. One will serve as your movement, while you use the second device to perform actions within the game.

I watched the video demo live at the event and it does look pretty impressive, but whether you will want to play an FPS using two motion controllers remains to be seen. However, the dev from Zipper seemed to be pretty comfortable when using it to play the game, so it shouldn’t require too much of a learning curve.

Hopefully we’ll have the video up soon. Let us know your thoughts on this.

GDC 2010: OnLive release date and price confirmed

We have some good news for gamers looking to try out the upcoming OnLive cloud gaming service, as we have a confirmed price and release date for the US, fresh from GDC 2010.

As reported from GameDaily, OnLive boss Steve Pearlman delivered the news himself at a press conference – announcing that OnLive will be available in the US from June 17th.

As for the price, it will cost you $14.95 a month to use, but the first 25,000 users to pre-register for the service will get three months free use. However, its not too great – as you’ll still need to pay a separate fee to actually rent or buy the game you want to play.

No details on the separate fees for the games yet, but we’ll let you know once we get more details. OnLive will launch with between 12 and 25 games, some of which include the likes of Mass Effect 2, Assassin’s Creed 2 and Borderlands.

Let us know your thoughts on the pricing. We imagine you are quite surprised with the ’separate fees’, right?
